Industry Guest Speaker Series

This semester, we're excited to host a series of virtual fireside chats with a diverse group of practitioners who are applying AI and machine learning in real-world settings. Our speakers, who come from a variety of industries including biotech, consumer tech, and automotive, will share their experiences, challenges, and insights from working on AI projects. Whether it's improving recommendation systems, exploring the potential of AI in healthcare, or developing new technologies for autonomous driving, these conversations will provide a broad perspective on how AI is being integrated and utilized across different sectors today.

Speaker's bio:

Chen-Ping is an AI/tech entrepreneur and angel investor based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is currently working at Google after founding and serving as CEO and CTO of Phiar, an early-stage AR/AI startup in the smart mobility space. Phiar was acquired by Google in September 2022.

During his time at Phiar, Chen-Ping served as a leader in the overall company development and operations, overseeing critical functions such as fundraising, business development, recruiting, product strategy and development, and R&D efforts focused on cutting-edge computer vision AI technology that revolutionizes how people navigate and experience the world, specifically through augmented reality navigation.

With over 10 years of rigorous academic training and research in Computer Vision and AI, Chen-Ping has made significant contributions to the field. His work has been recognized with scientific publications in leading venues such as NIPS, ICCV, ECCV, Psychological Science, and PNAS.
